Fulfill My Needs or Give My Life Away
Hi, the following are notes that I found in my purse. I don’t know what I was listening to at the time, but this meant a lot to me and I thought this would be valuable to ya’ll, so I thought I would type it out and pass it on. Love, C
Many, many people are totally consumed with their own needs. In the unsaved world, that’s the way most people think. “I need, I need, I need; me, me, me…my needs…” As a result, that is the root of much sin—selfish thinking, selfish actions, and not thinking of others.
That is not the way Jesus is—Jesus’ eyes were not on Himself. If we belong to Him, we don’t have to live like the world lives. When we make covenant with God, our part is this decision…we are telling God, “I’ve been chasing after fulfilling my needs, but now, instead of trying to meet my needs, I’m going to try to see that Your desires are fulfilled, and I’m going to trust You to fulfill my needs. I’m going to live for YOU, Jesus.”
Do you need your sins forgiven? YES. Those who don’t have them forgiven will be under God’s wrath.
Many religious people approach God with, “I will go out, go after it by doing things to appease God, or earn right standing with Him.” In Galatians it says that those who are seeking to be justified by law have fallen away from grace. We must instead say to God and to Jesus, “I am a wretch—I trust You to forgive me and change me.” In Matthew 6 Jesus says, “Do not be anxious for your life—what you will eat or drink or clothes, etc. Seek FIRST HIS Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.”
What needs to drive and motivate each one of us is to seek His Kingdom, take care of His interests and trust Him to take care of us.
Has anyone ever worried about whether or not people are going to like you? If we will live our lives to seek Him and His Kingdom, Jesus made this promise. If we will lose our life for His sake and for the Gospel, then we will find it (true Life); but if we grasp after our life we will lose it all. Let God be concerned about whether people like us, about our relationships, He will see that that need is met too. If you think “people like others more than me”, or “I’m afraid of this person not liking me,” there is only one way out, turn up to God, and say, “I’m giving this over to you, give me the strength to get my mind off of that and to live seeking Your Kingdom and I will start looking for other people’s needs.” Look for ways to give your life away. Ask, “is there someone I can love, can show love to?” Give the worry over to Him, don’t focus on getting your needs met, turn away from that and turn up to Him.
Let’s live like children of the King. He will give us the strength if we ask Him. He has already given us all we need for life and godliness!
