CHICAGO, Illinois (Reuters)—One in five U.S. teenagers who regularly log on to the Internet say they have received an unwanted sexual solicitation via the Web, according to a survey released on Tuesday. Nineteen percent of the 1,500 surveyed youths aged 10 to 17 reported getting solicited, presumably by adults. Solicitations were defined as requests to engage in sexual activities or sexual talk, or to give personal sexual information. “In terms of risk, girls and older youth (14-17 years) were more likely to be solicited. Risk was higher for youth who were troubled. It was also higher for those who used the Internet more frequently, participated in chat rooms, engaged in risky behavior online, talked to strangers online, or used the Internet at households other than their own,” wrote Kimberly Mitchell of the Crimes Against Children Research Center at the University of New Hampshire, in Durham. One quarter of the children who were solicited for sex—some of whom were subsequently approached in person, or enticed on the telephone or by regular mail—reported being extremely upset or afraid. Neither parental oversight of their children’s online activities nor filtering or blocking technology had much impact on whether children were solicited, the study found. “Add Internet solicitation to the list of childhood perils about which (authorities) should be knowledgeable and able to provide counsel to families,” said the report, which was published in this week’s issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Hi Family... (Though it is barely in existence at this date) I know that many of you are very aware of the pathetic evil on the Internet, and the dangers of playing on the internet or any other “on-line” service. Dabbling around has caused a list of casualties longer than I can name, some of which amongst people we know in various places. PLEASE do not mess with this stuff. God has provided people all over the world without internet, from Pago Pago to Saudi Arabia, to Australia, from Poland to Malawi to Brazil and a hundred other places, for us to dialogue with—and ***HE*** can and will provide relationships without playing on satan’s playground to find something to do. If I didn’t know personally some of the unbelievable SUPERNATURAL evil that has befallen our fellow soldiers because of dabbling in forums and “web sites,” perhaps I would just keep quiet. But, the pain is too great to ignore and to let fad and curiosity run rampant amongst God’s People that care. Any encouragement to mess with a VERY dangerous, venomous LIVING ANIMAL called Internet, “without authorization” from God is a serious mistake (see Acts 15—God should be truly involved in each “click” and choice and minute used, and “conversation”). Regardless of topic, this is only “basic Christianity” anyway, if you are familiar with the Bible and Teaching and Life of Jesus.
Today, in 1995, this “Internet thing” is not prevalent. But the day will come when it is accepted that playing on the “web” is a “self-evident” right and anyone who would question playing in this twisted fantasy world, from site to site, chat room to chat room—must be weird. “I can handle it,” is the cry of those who love the tastes and smells and heavy breathing of Egypt—but want to “use it for God.” “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, a man reaps what he sows.”
Please be VERY cautious of *this CLAW that desires to REACH OUT OF YOUR COMPUTER MONITOR AND GRAB YOUR THROAT.* How does it do this? It LURES your time, your eyes, your heart, your mind, your imagination as well as deteriorating your real-time relationships. It brings you into contact with people who will inject poison into your veins, by “thrill” or “lust” or “adventure” or “wanderlust.” And Lucifer will make it a high priority to bring you “supernaturally” into contact with his “masquerading workers” who will enjoy poisoning your minds toward God’s legitimate work and people via secret slander (that will always sound SO believable—THEY know the REAL facts). “Let’s just dialogue off on the side, so it will seem like I’m humble and discreet—and so no one who knows the truth will challenge me. It’ll just be our little intimate conversation. And you won’t likely take Jesus’ road and hate and oppose slander, because you’re curious.” It is one of satan’s most powerful weapons to give men and women, girls and boys a “PAPER BAG” TO PUT OVER THEIR HEAD SO THEY “CAN’T BE SEEN”—and to allow them then to “be somebody” and “go places” and “see things” and “say things.” This is “Dark Freedom”—ungoverned by Truth and Light. It is a vile, treacherous, sticky pit.
BE CAREFUL. If you HAVE to be “online”—be committed to Holiness. Perhaps do it with others, or SOMETHING, if it is REALLY “required.” DO SOMETHING other than just bow your knee at the altar of the enemy and do what’s right in your own eyes. Enough will choose this path anyway. You don’t have to.
Attack—“make no PROVISION to fulfill the lust of the flesh,” have a plan, a commitment; don’t SUBMIT to its wiles. The dynamics that the Internet and its “World-wide-WEB” set up to trap those who otherwise would not be “christian” gossipers or likely to slander (“christian” chat rooms, discussion lists) or prone to various levels of pornography or hyper-religiousness—or time-wasting. I can’t beg you enough—please be careful.
Love in His Holy Name,
