Our Brokenness and Togetherness

4/15/2003

To a few: Two related quotes I read today that I liked : ) —nick

“Brokenness is the realization that life is too much for us, not just because there is too much pain—but also because we’re too selfish. Brokenness is realizing He is all we have. Hope is realizing He is all we need. Joy is realizing He is all we want.”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote below what can best be described as the Biblical definition of “Church.” God’s view of “Church” is not a bunch of mixed people attending something. TRUE Church, 1Cor.12, is a collection of people who ALL “from the least to the greatest” have embraced the above life and brokenness, Together—resulting in Dietrich’s quote below:

“Our community with one another consists solely in what Christ has done to both of us.”

(1Jn.1, 1Jn.3)
