I had been reading 1 and 2 Peter, and happened to read this. It reminded me a lot of what we were talking about the other night, about seeing the world system and present age as Jesus and the apostles say it is… This was a good reminder… ~hannah
“Keep a sober mind. Stay alert. The devil is poised to pounce and devour, like a roaring lion—and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up.” (from 1 Peter 5)
“God is especially incensed against these ‘teachers’ who bring smooth and destructive heresies, appealing to emotions and flesh to give them strength. They despise interference from true authority, preferring to indulge in self-rule. They are insolent egotists, and even angels, their superiors in every way, wouldn’t think of throwing their weight around like that, trying to slander others before God.
“These people are nothing but brute beasts, born in the wild, predators on the prowl, living by animal instincts. In the very act of bringing down others with their ignorant blasphemies, mocking in things of which they have no Understanding, they themselves will be brought down, losers in the end. Their evil will boomerang on them. ...There’s nothing to these people—they’re dried-up fountains, storm-scattered clouds, headed for a black hole in hell. They are loudmouths, full of hot air, but still they’re dangerous. Men and women who have recently escaped from a deviant life are most susceptible to their brand of seduction. They promise these newcomers freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption, for if they’re addicted to corruption—and they are—they’re enslaved.” (from 2 Peter 2)
