Training is GOOD :)

Hello, I have a question for you. Do you think that suffering destroys the old wine skin? Then when the old nature is destroyed we get filled overflowing with God’s spirit, in the new wine skin? Then God’s Spirit can work thru us, reaching out to others through the gifts? We won’t try to get some of the glory, because we will be dead to selfishness, and pride. It just seems like a reasonable question. Perhaps I read this somewhere, but if I did who knows where? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.

“My son, do not think lightly of the Lord’s discipline or give up when you are corrected by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he punishes every son he accepts.” What you endure is for the sake of discipline. God is treating you as sons. Is there a son whom his father does not discipline? Now if you are without any discipline, in which all sons share, then you are illegitimate and not his sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers who used to discipline us, and we respected them for it. We should even more submit to the Father of our spirits and live, shouldn’t we? For a short time they disciplined us as they thought best, but he does it for our good, so that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, for those who have been trained by it, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace. (Hebrews 12:5-11)

Therefore, since Christ suffered in the sphere of the flesh, you too, must arm yourselves with the same determination. For the person who has suffered in the sphere of the flesh has stopped sinning, so that he can live the rest of his time in the flesh guided, not by human desires, but by the will of God. (1Peter 4:1-2)

Hi… Both Truth of His Words (the “Seed” of true Life) and what we call “suffering” are certainly both Essential as He desires to woo us, own us, mold us, and perhaps as you said, use us. “Kingdom Principle #1” is still and always, “lest any man boast” (Eph.2:8-10).

The Life and Power of the Spirit of CHRIST JESUS in this Covenant are only for those who are “broken and contrite” in the inner man. HIS Power (there are other counterfeit “powers”) are for those who have ears to hear and soft hearts towards “Truth” and “suffering” and are willing “TO BE TRAINED BY IT,” as God said in the above Verse.

Some respond to “discipline” and “suffering” with a stiff neck—or “DURRRRR”—and miss the Opportunity, unfortunately. They resent it or ignore it because they’re “tough” (proud or undiscerning is more accurate) or egocentric or mind-block. These often “go on” by pumping their fist in the air with renewed retaliatory ambition, or ego or fleshly passivity and levity, to compensate for their failure and God’s Training you asked about—rather than humbly retracing their steps and opening their hands to Father for the Correction. You can guess where the High Ground is, that yields fertile Ground for HIS Spirit, rather than the counterfeit spirits of the age of darkness and religion…. Good question. : )
