Don't Fall for the Trap
I’ll guarantee, you’ll be tempted not to do that. That’s what can happen. You can spend some time like we’re doing right now, and you can have some thoughts stirred up, and a light is shined on your heart. And that very thing Mike just talked about of opening up and saying, “Hey, here’s what’s been going on…” Or “You know, I haven’t told you this, but this is something I think about a lot, and I never tell anybody.” Or, “This is something I’ve been doing, and you haven’t known about it…” or whatever it might be.
But to open up and confess and just be real -- there will always be a temptation not to do that, I guarantee that. Anytime you’re on the verge of taking an important step towards God, there will always be temptations to say, “No, I’ll do it later; it’s not that important. I’ll feel weird. I don’t know what to say. I’ve never done anything like that before.” There will be lots of excuses and lots of temptations, but that very thing is such an important step to open up and share your heart and to live in the light and let the light shine in. For you of your own choice to open up the doors to let the light in, is a huge choice. And you make major progress with that one little choice, I guarantee you. But there will always be temptations and excuses and reasons you can think of that you don’t need to do it right now. So don’t let that hold you back.
