Transformative Amorphous Leadership

1/16/2025

Rewards and punishments are the lowest form of education. -Zhuangzi

I wrote this this morning as I was pondering helping my nine-year-old. I hope you’ll consider it through those eyes also.

Leadership: 1) “The beatings will continue until morale has improved”, OR, 2) Amorphous leadership and “commands” of parables and stories, leading hand in hand, side by side, “with them—as one who serves”, leading by chords of kindness, by example, inspiring others to greatness, loving even the most unlikely into greatness, cultivating “the motives of the heart” rather than blind obeisance.

Of course, with great leadership there ought to be the appropriate use of an occasional strategic flash of “kindness and severity,” Shakespeare’s feigned eye of the tiger: “Disguise fair nature with hard-favour’d rage.”

That’s how the greatest and most influential teacher and mentor of all time still inspires towards change the full 50% of global population who look up to him, quote him and strive to be like him, 2000 years later.

Just sayin. By far the greatest “influencer” in the history of this round rocketship called earth was Jesus, ‘Isa, a poor, blue-collar worker with little formal education, and no social media account.

How did he do it? Both institutional religion and a controlling government superpower hated him. But, “the common people heard him gladly.” How can you too leave a legacy in your family and workplace and community and nation? Follow in his footsteps.

Amorphous. a•mor•phous (ə-môr′fəs)
“The word ‘amorphous’ originates from Greek, combining ‘a-’ (without) and ‘morphe’ (form). It describes objects or concepts lacking a definite predictable shape, form, or structure, able to respond to changes in environment. In scientific contexts, particularly chemistry and physics, it denotes materials without a crystalline copy-copy-copy rule-rule-rule repeated structure. Today, ‘amorphous’ remains a crucial concept across various disciplines, from materials science to abstract discussions of ideas and organizational structures.”

Original message from 1/9/25

He was and is kind of a big deal. Half the planet believes Jesus ‘Isa is Master Teacher: 2.4 billion “Christians,” 31% of the global population, and 1.9 billion Muslims, 24% of the global population. Combined, 4.3 billion people is over half of the world’s population, all waiting for the Return of Jesus.

So, He was and is kind of a big deal. Who else in all of history has accomplished even that simple feat? You? Me? Actually, no one else, ever. Historically speaking. Why is that—and what can we learn?

Jesus, Yesu, ‘Isa—is clearly someone we can learn from about how to function in our workplace, our families, our neighborhoods, and our world.

How did Jesus deliver transformative Truths? What can we learn about how to interact with those around us?

Jesus spoke some about reward and punishment, but emphasized how to live righteously and grow in character. His teachings focus on love, compassion, forgiveness, judging “no man after the flesh.” He spoke of and demonstrated internal spirit transformation, dependence on communing with uncreated life from heaven, not rules or rituals or attendance or hierarchies. Jesus, ‘Isa was opening the door to Awareness of, and perhaps Entry to the habitat of Zoe life1, the Z axis—not the XY axis of Darwinian humans or religious superstition and ritual and arrogant ignorance of Flatlands.

While Jesus mentioned rewards and punishments and eternal consequences, on the premise that “time” and “physical properties” are temporary constructs for the “Boot Camp” of humanity—these were not His primary focus.

He often used parables and direct teachings to illustrate deeper spiritual truths and encourage internal growth, to experience the life “on earth as it is in heaven” as he was demonstrating.

Jesus placed a strong emphasis on love and compassion:
• He taught followers to love their enemies and do good to those who hate them.
• Jesus demonstrated compassion throughout His 3 1/2 years of active life while still a pup in his early 30s, healing the sick and showing empathy.

Jesus used various methods to draw people to a higher character:
1. Parables
2. Direct teachings
3. Personal example
4. Challenging questions

Rather than relying primarily on rewards and punishments, Jesus emphasized inner transformation:
• He taught about spiritual rebirth and a change of heart.
• Jesus focused on faith, repentance, and following God’s will.
• He encouraged seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Yesu was tortured by government and religionists who were intimidated by Jesus and trying to hold onto their perceived power. ‘Isa Inspired the common man and woman and child to live righteously, out of a transformed heart—rather than rules and rituals or threats or bribes. Jesus was unimpressed by ritual, clergy, and hierarchy, and instead called everyone he met, from every walk of life, background, or damaged past, to reach up for a Hand from the Z axis.

1In this conversation, the XY-axis versus the Z-axis is being used as an illustration of the difference between eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil vs eating of the Tree of Life. XY-axis living is a “flat” natural living of good vs evil. Z-axis is a supernatural Zoe life in Jesus. Back
