A Kingdom of PRIESTS?
11/24/2007
Hebrews 2:17-18 (NKJV) “Therefore, in all things He (Jesus Christ) had to be made like His brethren, *that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest* in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For *because* He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.”
If you could take a “pill” that made you always feel good, and be happy and wise and articulate and fun to be with—would you take it? If you could “own” things that could make you happy, would you choose that path? JESUS did not. “He could have called ten thousand angels.” Perhaps our attempts to evade pain and challenge and discomfort, through entertainment or whining or other means, are only robbing us of 1) a chance to draw very near to Jesus and 2) to touch others for Jesus in supernatural ways. Maybe we don’t always NEED to “feel good” or “feel happy” or pressure-free or busy or entertained? Couldn’t it be, that as with Jesus Himself, the “pain” we no longer seek to escape or cover-over can become our best chance to draw near to God, to be an example for others as “Overcomers” walking in faith and love—no matter the stress, and so to then be entrusted by God with Gift and Life and Super-natural ability to be Priest for God to help change lives and worship?
A “kingdom of Priests” is not so much, then, about being able to “talk more” in “meetings” is it? It’s about lives who can reach out for the hand of man, and for the hand of Abba-God, and put them together. Sign up for THAT. : )
