Abraham’s Journey, and Ours if We Choose!

3/24/2026

The life of Abraham suggests that to change the world, one must be willing to live as a radical outlier, trading the safety of the known for the volatility of a divine calling. His story is a masterclass in the necessity of calculated risk, proving that you cannot birth a new future while remaining tethered to the comforts of the past.

To follow his trajectory as “sons of Abraham,” is to recognize that “Yes” to God is inherently a “No” to the gravitational pull of human desires, flesh, and security. Will you, will we, for GenZ and God’s Dream in our generation? Will you, will we, withhold from ourselves flesh and ego and props from humans? Is it worth it for you, if it is for God, to let His son be humiliated and rejected, scandalized and attacked?

A “son or daughter of Abraham”—a Christian—Galatians 1-4, is an intentional rejection of sentimentality, and the paralyzing attachment to “safe, comfortable, predictable, controllable, fun”—and a refusal to let stress or personal desires act as the final authorities over one’s destiny.

Abraham’s greatness, and God’s willingness to use him to change the world, did not stem from his character perfection, or a lack of fear, but from the fact that his obedience was louder than his anxiety and desire for reputation, pleasure, or normal.

Ultimately, Abraham’s journey teaches us that world-changing impact requires an untethered soul. He walked away from the normal and system architecture and comfortable predictability of family in Ur to live in the fragility of a tent. True power is found not in what we accumulate, but in what we are WILLING to abandon without complaint, calling on the name of the Lord for strength moment by moment, case by case, for a higher purpose than our own comfort, protection, or reputation.

To leave a mark on history, not because of a desire for legacy or spiritual accomplishment, but just to please Abba, you must be prepared for your “Yes” to look like foolishness to those who worship the status quo. And you will choose, like David, to offer God Gifts at the cost of your will and your flesh. Willingly. Calling on the name of the Lord with open eyes.

You cannot navigate by a new star if you are still anchored to the old shore. To change the world, it is a season of Gen Z, you must be willing to lose your place in it, trusting that the risk of total surrender is the only path to His Life and Desire that outlives the self, the flesh, and ego gravity that wants to make us lemmings and mediocre, rather than world changers for Jesus.

“So also Abraham ‘believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.’ Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith... He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit... If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:6-9, 14, 29 NIV)

“Is this blessedness only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised?... Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness... And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised... and he is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised... Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace... Abraham is the father of us all. As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’” (Romans 4:9-12, 16-17 NIV)

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith... There is neither Jew nor Gentile... for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26-28 NIV)

“‘Abraham is our father,’ they answered. ‘If you were Abraham’s children,’ said Jesus, ‘then you would do what Abraham did.’” (John 8:39 NIV)

“A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly... No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit...” (Romans 2:28-29 NIV)
