This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones he came to save:

Till on that cross as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied -

For every sin on Him was laid;

Here in the death of Christ I live.

You have not given me what my sins deserve. Instead, by Your blood, You've washed away all my sin and guilt, giving me everything I need for life and Godliness! Never do I have reason to complain! Any other gift You might give is pure bonus - the cherry on top of the cherry on the sundae.
