Do You Revere the Word of God?

1/4/2000

The REAL thrust, it seems, is always “DO YOU HAVE REVERENCE FOR THE WORD OF GOD, IN EARTHEN VESSELS?” or can you wander around the room freely, eating potato chips, whispering continuously to children about their coloring projects, going in and out, up and down, any old time without regard for something very HOLY—WAY beyond just “human information transferal.” We must all be “noble.” We must “test everything” by the Scriptures and the Spirit of Christ! But always with an attitude of reverence that is not characterized by, “I’m the boss here. Thanks for the info, and I’ll get back with you on what I think about it. I’ll listen, but in the end I’ll do ‘what’s right in my own eyes.’” That is not the New Covenant, or any Covenant with God or His Plan. The message of the New Covenant isn’t LESS connectedness and submission to others, but MORE. “Paul, I’ll give you a cursory hearing, and file away your much appreciated information to use as I see fit” definitely was not the way the Thessalonians responded to “mere men,” nor is it any different today. Of course “testing” for the “resonant frequency” of the Anointed One is always His Way (1Jn.2), but the carelessness is the topic, not “infallibility” or anything of that nature.

Of course there will always be those who can “see the Blueprint” (Eph.4:11-13, Heb.13:7,17) and help others that WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE IT OTHERWISE. They would have been “children tossed to and fro” without those PEOPLE passing on parts of God to them. That certainly is not a problem, as long as they are servants and not bosses. This is the Samuel way to be “king”—as opposed to man’s way, which is “Saul’s” way to be “king”—which is very evil. Samuel wasn’t arrogant, Moses was not arrogant, Peter was not arrogant when Ananias and Sapphira were “brought before him” rather than a committee, or when HE was summoned to Dorcas’ bedside, or to Cornelius. Paul wasn’t arrogant when he turned to bar-Jesus and told him he was a son of the devil, though he didn’t even know him. There is still authority, in this era, bestowed by God. It is simply Samuel (organic) rather than Saul (office-related or title-related). But, like the Centurion with greater faith than all in Israel, responding to ORGANIC authority is still as essential for the Believer as at any time in God’s His-Story.
