Everything We Are and Do Rests on THE Man

I was just listening to John chapter 18, and just marvelled at the truth again that everything we are and do, and everything that will be, rest on a Man—not ideas! WOW is that better. That means I don’t have to know everything. That means I don’t have to do everything. That means I don’t have to understand the future or the past perfectly. That means my sins, mistakes, misunderstandings, and failures—are not against “a law” per se but against a Man… And therefore can be forgiven.

Everything we are and do, and everything that will be, rest on THE Man—not ideas or deeds!

By the way, there is nothing specific in John 18 except that John 18 is all about the Man. It’s easy to “read the Bible” as a bunch of ideas and truths and commands. And we wouldn’t be entirely wrong. But why in the world are the four Gospels in there at all? Just as an extra story and some extra truth? Uh-uh. The Gospels are the central jewel, of course, because they are the Man who is the truth.
