Eating from the Tree of Life Is NOT Hyperspiritual

Does God love it? Does God hate it? Does God care about it?

After some time at a theme park and dinner, an impromptu discussion about how to know if you are eating from the Tree of Life or the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil emerged... We've included a video compilation of our memories of the day and pictures the children drew during the discussion. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Cotton candy and carnival rides

This stuff of earth

It'll try to tell you lies

They'll tell you all you need is

something new

Something better

To hold on to

Don't you go chasing shadows

I've got exactly what you need

Don't you know I've loved you all along

Open your eyes

I wanna help you see

A place where you are safe and loved

A place where you are more than welcome

A place where you just trust and hold My hand

If you watch with your heart and not your eyes

You might be surprised

The places I will be

All these things that you can touch and smell and feel

Can you hear it?

They're whispering My name

You will taste and see what I can do

There's so much more I have for you

I'm gonna give you all these gifts

Gotta empty your heart so I can fit

(And in the audio recordings below, you’ll notice we don’t do “children’s church” or believe that “children should be seen and not heard.” There are 19 children under the age of 10 in this spontaneous living room discussion, so you need to give the audio recording about a minute to settle down into quietness. :) )

speech bubble representing person 1 talkingWhile I was saying goodnight I asked my eight-year-old if he could remember what we talked about this evening. He said, “Love what God loves, hate what God hates, care about what God cares about, and don’t care about what He doesn’t care about.” Simple. :)

Yet, after listening to what was said, this is totally within reach and surprisingly simple. The work is paying attention to what is going on inside of our hearts.
