Attendance-based religion, versus Jesus' Church
12/29/2017
Verily! A Parable regarding Attendance-based religion, versus Church as Jesus built, lived, and taught it to be! So much is Available and Ahead for us!
Consider a culture that is perpetually very sick and pathetically weak—because they only know to grow one particular food. It is toxic, but survivable. At some point that culture is under attack from an enemy and could be enslaved and killed. So, they all get in a boat and sail to a previously undiscovered paradise island. They believe “fortunately” they had been wise enough to bring along with them the seeds and young plants of that toxic plant they had grown in their previous home. They immediately set forth planting this terrible food source that has killed 75% of their children and made everyone weak.
What shall we say, then? They have escaped slavery and destruction—only to continue to feed themselves poison, destined then to continue to be pathetically weak and chronically ill.
Perhaps? Perhaps there is another way?

One day while looking for a new patch of ground in which to perpetuate more of their“lucky” fruit, a few of their number stumbled upon many people, young and old—island inhabitants they’d never seen. These people were tending and harvesting together a whole variety of fruits and vegetables. How rich and wonderful!
As the two peoples met, it was plain the contrast: those in a deplorable state—pale and sickly, malnourished and weak. And those of health and vibrancy. Without delay the islanders offered a share of their rich harvest.
Some of the would-be recipients eyed them in suspicion and whispered among themselves, “Why should we trust them? What is the catch here? Surely they are not telling us what these fruits are made of. No one would freely give without some ulterior motive. They want to control us! After all, men of other nations just days ago tried to ransack and steal our lives. No one is good. Let us turn away from this folly.” Others murmured uncertainly, eyeing the delicious fruits. Some were simply afraid to take a chance. Some thought “the old is better, safer.”
In an instant, the fog of suspicion, fear and uncertainty vanished when a young man cried out: “Look at the children! Look! How healthy and happy—and so many of them of every age and size! What risk can there be in this? These people know something we don’t—we’d be fools to not accept. Our children die before they even have a chance to really live.” WisdomsProof.com
Who of these will find out? Who will take the “risk” to abandon their poison for a feast?
“By their fruit you will know them.”
