A Baby Fish Just Knows

10/27/2024

“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Hebrews 5:14

As I just told someone on the phone, “Jesus said if you love me you will obey me” is not a threat. It is a definition. A fish does not want to jump onto the shore or make excuses about why it jumped onto the shore, or compare to anyone else, or compromise anything in order to jump onto the shore and “get away with it because because.” A fish doesn’t want to live on the shore because the fish knows it cannot live on the shore. If a fish has a choice that would land it on the shore instead of in the water, it will swim away from it after touching the shore. It may just be too stupid to know where the shore is, but if it touches the shore, it swims away. Because it’s a fish. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey me;” if you’re a fish, you don’t want the shore, and if you touch the shore you will swim away. It’s not a threat—it’s the definition.

1 John 3

“Know the Lord” is not this Covenant. Rules are not this Covenant. “Baby Fish says, ‘My mama fish said, “Don’t go to the shore! Don’t go to the shore! Don’t go to the shore!” so I won’t go to the shore.’”

Are you telling me a baby fish doesn’t know that already? It requires a rule?
