Content to Just Ride on the Backs of Our Forefathers?

3I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy... (2Timothy 1:1-4)

There is a lot here about relationship and focus that are expected of us :-)

But, one thing that stood out to me is in bold above: make a note of just how Jewish we are! Paul had zero Christian forefathers. Zero. Certainly we have some, but he was referring to something else entirely that also applies to us at the heart level. He said it so easily and naturally! We are totally related to Abraham Isaac Jacob Elijah Moses Melchizedek Hosea Amos and the rest of our gang :-)

I think WE should not be content to ride on the strong high backs of our forefathers, as grateful as we are, as impressed with those valiant fighters and miracle participants as we are…. but BE that for millions of others.
