Basic Christianity: Progress is Evident

6/3/2010

(This is old news really, but sometimes words come to life and fly around the room : )…and then you’re never the same again!)

Hi : ), a thought for today, and the rest of the Days…

After learning of the downfall of certain people, a child asked me how another person was doing (spiritually). Considering an answer, my thoughts went toward a lack of change that has become evident over the years. The next day, i read something in the Bible, and the word ‘progress’ jumped out at me.

Normal, basic Christianity: “Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.” (1 Tim 4: 15)

In other words:

Meditate on these things (for example what God wants for you); give yourself ENTIRELY to them, that your *PROGRESS* may be evident to all.

PROGRESS IS A KEY HERE.

IS there Progress?!

And a few other ways to say it from different Bible versions:

Be diligent in these matters

Take pains with these things

Think on these things

Have a care for these things

Of these things be careful

give yourself wholly to them

immerse yourself in them

devote your life to them

be absorbed in them

in these things be

so that all may see your progress.

that your profiting may appear to all.

so that all may see how you go forward.

so that your growing proficiency in them may be evident to all.

that thy advancement may be manifest in all things.
