Being a Prophet and Priest With Humility
10/13/2024
What do you do when something has piqued your interest in a negative way, something you’ve noticed in someone that could be a path of compromise or worldliness or destructive relationship tendency? When something doesn’t quite smell right, but you can’t prove anything? Do you really “go after it” with an accusation? Probably not. Do you ignore it because the evidence is too thin? Hopefully not. At least not for very long.
In a nonjudgmental, non-accusatory way, you might say “this path, this accumulation of impressions or evidence, the sounds and smells of this path that you’re on (provide some detail) doesn’t seem like something Jesus would value or pursue or a way he would act, or choice he would make. I could be wrong, or it might be an illusion, but please don’t let this pattern slip into habit or sear your conscience. Promise you will stand up and look at it and adjust or change or renounce what needs adjusted? We are not ignorant of satan’s devices. Would you promise to look at it and try to sort this out and take the appropriate steps?”
Jesus did not teach them “what to pray” but rather “how to pray.” Same principle. This is not what to say, but rather the “how” approach.
The fundamental supporting principle is humility and lack of judgment of others, but without being naive or a blind joiner or compromiser, being a prophet and priest, making sure the seeds are sown—knowing the Seeds may take some time to germinate.
(In this conversation, the XY-axis versus the Z-axis is being used as an illustration of the difference between eating from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil vs eating of the Tree of Life. XY-axis living is a “flat” natural living of good vs evil. Z-axis is a supernatural Zoe life in Jesus.)
