Communion at the Altar of Trust

4/27/2026

If we want, want, want, and are angry when we don’t get, get, get...

If we compare and envy...

If we get frustrated and impatient the false god “Genie in a bottle” doesn’t give us what we want, when we want it...

...We cannot commune with God.

If we choose instead to go numb and not care about anything as a reaction to not getting what we want, want, want, we cannot commune with God.

God is outside of time, and is outside this molecular creation and its desires and hormones and chemicals. He is outside of the ruler of this world and the kingdom of darkness that reigns here.

But it’s OK to have a favorite lamb. Don’t go numb. But, don’t demand. Don’t envy. Be grateful and patient and trusting of a good God who does good and loves His children. He is simply not confined by time and therefore doesn’t “perform” for us the way shallow or fleshly humans may want.

But it’s OK to have a favorite lamb. It’s not a turtle or spider he has asked us to put on the altar. You have to have a favorite to offer—as a place for communion.

It’s OK to have a favorite lamb.

That’s where communion with God is found: putting our favorite lamb on the altar, and trusting God.

It's not a turtle on the altar; it is a favorite lamb.'
