Darkness Has Assailed Me
from a brother in Africa
9/17/2008
Darkness has assailed me
I was in a pit so dark
Nothing could cleanse me from the sin that seemed to clothe me
The pain was unbearable
Through tears I moaned
I find myself here by listening to the lies
Darkness has assailed me
I was in a pit so dark
No hope, No light, No Life
I was trapped in a prison
And the stench of my sin my only companion
Then one day, You looked upon me
Saying “Child, you are free”
You opened my prison door and I can see your hands, oozing with blood
You reached in to draw me out
You whispered “Trust Me, I will catch you when you fall”
Darkness has assailed me
I was in a pit so dark until You saved me and drew me out
You gave me light and clothed me with love
And as I consider what You have done
I realize “Much has been given and Much will be required”
Oh Lord, No price I can ever pay, will cancel the debt of love I owe You
But I will show You love as I love my brother…
