Delusions, Religionists and the Dark Edge

Isn’t it something that your average pagan has a far greater sense of propriety, dignity, and decency than people who have fallen away from the faith (regardless of how obsessively they would claim to still be “Christians”)? I’d MUCH rather get stuck on an airplane sitting next to an atheist or agnostic than a professing Christian who is attempting to use “religion” to hide his love for the flesh, the world, and the devil, and his malicious hatred of the true faith. Who would you have rather invited you to dinner: Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s agnostic dad, or one of the “German Christians” (so-called) who worshiped under the sign of the swastika? “Pops” Bonhoeffer would have treated you respectfully and heard you out honestly. The “German Christian” would have looked for evidence so that he could betray you to the Gestapo. Peter knew what he was talking about: “If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them. Of them the proverbs are true: ‘A dog returns to its vomit,’ and, ‘A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.’”
