Follow His Example

“Indeed this is your calling. For Christ suffered for you and left you a personal example* so that you might follow in His steps” (1Pet. 2:21).

*example, Gr. “hupogrammos” (hoop-og-ram-mos), an underwriting, i.e. copy for imitation (fig.), an example.

Our brother Paul tells us that Jesus is our “example”—our standard to “write under.” Just as we would write a letter for a child to copy as they learn to write, Jesus left us an “example” to “write under” as we learn to live. I was noticing today with a young one that after awhile he started copying his OWN letters, rather than the “example.” And, of course, his letters got worse and worse as he copied the copies, rather than the “example.” Point made? Will you “look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith” and follow His “example”—let Him be the Standard forever in everything you do? It would be really nice for your children and your neighbors to have a RECENT example to look at, to remind them of the Original... it would help them... Will you??? For Jesus, b 1:48 p.m.
