Interpretation of Scripture in Hebrews 6 and 10
3/26/2009
Hi,
How must I understand the following scriptures: Hebrews 6:1-8 and 10:26-31.
Be blessed

“Therefore we must progress beyond the elementary instructions about Christ and move on to maturity, not laying this foundation again: repentance from dead works and faith in God, teaching about baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And this is what we intend to do, if God permits. For it is impossible in the case of those who have once been enlightened, tasted the heavenly gift, become partakers of the Holy Spirit, tasted the good word of God and the miracles of the coming age, and then have committed apostasy, to renew them again to repentance, since they are crucifying the Son of God for themselves all over again and holding him up to contempt. For the ground that has soaked up the rain that frequently falls on it and yields useful vegetation for those who tend it receives a blessing from God. But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is useless and about to be cursed; its fate is to be burned” (Hebrews 6:1-8).
“For if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, no further sacrifice for sins is left for us, but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume God’s enemies. Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace? For we know the one who said, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay,’ and again, ‘The Lord will judge his people.’ It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:26-31).
Hi Brother of ours : ) Well, whatever else may be said about the Scriptures you refer to, one thing is Absolutely CERTAIN: those Scriptures are powerful and exhilarating and beautiful! Agree? What a God we serve! These Truths are not uncomfortable, but Grand and Staggering and Magnificent in their scope and depth. (Psalm 119)!
How could any TRUE Christian not agree and love these Scriptures?! They are HIM. The Word became flesh and lived for a while amongst us! All that is Him is Beautiful!
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
“For who has known the mind of the LORD?
Or who has become His counselor?”
“Or who has first given to Him
And it shall be repaid to him?”
For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen!!!

Hi again,
With reference to previous mail, a saved person has deliberately fallen into sin for a period of 2 years. He confessed his sin towards God and others willingly, his family and others of course have forgiven him, but he still struggles with Hebrews 6v1-8 and 10v26-31.
PLEASE HELP.

HI…. Let me amplify, then. **Those seemingly without conscience and REVERENCE for God and compassion for those they have hurt—are the ones these Verses you asked about apply to.**
HERE are those who should be most concerned with the Verses you mention, though they will be the LEAST concerned:
If a person is arrogant, defiant, blames others, makes excuses, minimizes their sins as if “crucifying Jesus afresh” isn’t that big of deal, and play the game “we’re only human,” “get the log out of your own eye” “I have the bluh-uhhddd, so don’t judge meeeee”—THESE are the ones that the Verses you ask about apply to. And it VERY much applies. It requires no Greek degree to read exactly what God says and means. Add many other Verses also, that say similar things. For example, this Verse, as well, ought to make such as these (the hollow, fake, defiant, unphased, excuse making blame shifters) greatly concerned. But for them such Truths from God won’t matter. Only those who look to Jesus will even believe or care about this Verse. As I said, ironically, those who it applies to will be the very ones who don’t care. They rip out those Scriptures and call John and God “legalistic” and claim that God and John must not understand “grace” as well as they do.
However! Those who CARE (without excuses, finger-pointing—or disConnected thumb-sucking whining or lethargy, with the passion of 2Cor.7:4-12), as it sounds this brother and family DO, it might be better to consider, enjoy, and take Refuge in THESE Verses : )
Hallelujah!!!
