Jesus Is Alive
3/15/1997
Peace! He does not sleep, He is not dead! ‘Tis we, walking pale and weak, dead without Him, lost in stormy visions and unprofitable strife with phantoms and foolish lusts that cut the heart like a knife... He has out soared the shadow of your night, your envy and pride, selfishness and pain, and your unrest rooted in engaging Him in foolish fight. He has pacified your spirit, removing its torture, His warming Presence quietly resides again...He made mockery of that mortal stone—He lives, He wakes! Death is dead, not He! Arising from our stench of woe on that glorious dawn, forests and caverns, flowers and creatures of wing... clap, wave, sing, and soar! Only the enemy is left to moan...Through the dull and senseless world, standing victoriously on the fundament of time and the firmament of life and love’s fire, Jesus alone can conquer our death—He alone can free hearts made young by hearing and hastening to His heart’s desire.
