"No One Else Like Timothy"

I was reading in Philippians and read 2:20-22 NLT. I stopped and re-read it again. “I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare. All the others care only for themselves and not for what matters to Jesus Christ.”

I looked it up in the Amplified. “For I have no one like him [no one of so kindred a spirit] who will be so genuinely interested in your welfare and devoted to your interests. For the others all seek [to advance] their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ (the Messiah).” Then, in the NIVUK. “I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare. For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.” I was sobered in thinking of all the people—all the believers that Paul knew, and yet he highlights only Timothy—as no one like him, no one of so kindred a spirit that doesn’t think about himself, but only of what matters to Jesus! And sobered by the little choices where I’ve done that very thing. Chosen a safe place, a memory that makes me feel better or worse, for that matter. :/ Chosen to feel better in some fleshly way over Listening for Jesus’ whispers for what He wants. His pleasure. But it was also encouraging that Today, I /we can make that difference and be One Together—and not look after our own interests. It’s about time Jesus and Paul :) See a People who only seek to advance what matters to Jesus. 1:28 p.m.
