I'm a Pearl Person. Period.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
Now WHY would a merchant sell everything he has to buy one pearl?
An investor would either be trying to get a great deal so he could resell it for a profit, or it would be silly to sell everything to buy one pearl. A pearl is difficult to resell unless you already have a buyer; the price can vary and it would be easy to lose money, and by selling everything he no longer has money or possessions to invest in other things. He’s stuck.
So why would a merchant sell everything he has to buy one pearl?
The answer is that the kingdom of heaven is like the kind of guy who doesn’t care about making a profit or investing in anything else. He is a PEARL PERSON and that is ALL! He just loves pearls and this pearl in particular has his full attention and complete investment, with nothing left. He is a PEARL PERSON ONLY. PERIOD.
Jesus was saying if a person is attempting to analyze the value versus other investments, he will always be looking for something for himself or herself. Such a person will always be fickle and trying to get a good deal, and willing to let go of one investment for another if it seems like a better deal. Such a person cannot be depended on because he is in it for himself or herself. Such a person is not a PEARL PERSON - but an investor who is looking for a profit and a benefit.
But the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom where God lives, the kingdom where Jesus is on the throne and all of creation bows and shouts and worships, THAT Kingdom is filled only with Pearl People - who live for the beauty and the power and the music and the life of the Pearl itself, not to advance themselves by being shrewd investors. Those people sell everything they have, have no desire or ability to invest in anything else, and have taken a chance with something that has no liquidity to create a portfolio of anything else, and maybe of dubious value to others looking in at their investment.
The pearl person says “So what?! This pearl is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen and it’s value to an outside judge or investor for themselves makes no difference to me whatsoever. I simply love this Pearl and that is that!”
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
