Poem from Today
12/18/2003
inspired by the poetic burst found in 2 Tim 2:11-13
He cannot disown Himself
I am His, and forever shall be, for He cannot disown Himself
Life everlasting, full and free, for He cannot disown Himself
Rescued from the race of men
Pardoned too from Adam’s sin
Joined with Him we can’t but win
For He cannot disown Himself
Even when my faith grow weak, He cannot disown Himself
Piercing through gloom He speaks, for He cannot disown Himself
Bidding me to start anew
Turn from lies; believe what’s true
Hold His hand, He’ll see me through,
For He cannot disown Himself
I am His, and He is mine, for He cannot disown Himself
Every heartache shall be fine, for He cannot disown Himself
I reign now if I endure
Tainted heart will be made pure
For He is true, my only cure
For He cannot disown Himself
I will dance forever bold, for He cannot disown Himself
Up and down the streets of gold, for He cannot disown Himself
My life hid deep where none can find
He loosed the paper chains that bind
And put me in my rightful mind
For He cannot disown Himself
Can you not feel the victory’s won, for He cannot disown Himself
Joined forever to the Son, for He cannot disown Himself
Wipe the liar’s lies away
Changing ever day by day
Morning star has come to stay
For He cannot disown Himself
