Prayer Requires Good Relationships

1986

Number 5 prerequisite for answered prayer is good relationships with others. This is way too practical. In 1Peter 3:7 he says, “Husbands be considerate to your wives, show them great respect.” The reason you should do that is, “SO THAT nothing will hinder your prayers.” Without being considerate and being respectful of others, particularly our spouses (but there’s an awful lot of other scripture to prove that it’s not just our spouses) it has to do with our roommates, our brothers and sisters in Christ or anybody you might happen to meet that without being considerate of them and being respectful of them, your prayers will be hindered. God is not going to hear those prayers. So, if you are taking advantage selfishly of your spouse or of your roommates or anything like that, you really can’t expect to have your prayers answered.

We’re talking about little things like doing the dishes if it’s your turn to do the dishes, about picking up a mess that you made without anybody having to tell you about it all the time, about being reliable and respectful in delivering messages, and keeping appointments and things like that. Being considerate of one another is essential for having those prayers answered and not hindered.
