Refining Fire

1/5/2011

Fire brings us back to what really matters! How many people have you seen walk out of a devastating experience complaining? The majorities are thankful to be alive and many have a renewed sense of purpose. If we look at fire in the Bible it is always related to foundations, sacrifice, covenant and original intent. If you have experienced the trials of fire, then don’t let them discourage or disorient you, but allow them to help you refocus with renewed faith on the original intent of God’s purpose for your life. When all is said and done what is going to matter? Did you fulfill the purpose of God for your life! If you are alive and reading this then you are still a story that is being written.

Don’t allow fiery trials to damage your faith, but let them re-establish and focus your faith to propel you into His purpose. Allow your faith to be stirred up, renewed, and strengthened by focusing on Christ your foundation, covenant partner and visionary. The Darby translation says “that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (I Peter 1:7).

You can’t separate yourself from your past pain, discouragements or even shortcomings by focusing on the past, but by refocusing on your purpose. It is when you are looking back at the charred trials you have passed through that you become disoriented, disillusioned and double-minded. It is important if we want to walk in His purpose to stir up our faith and not allow difficulties to keep us from pressing on. He has started this work in you and the fires that you pass through are only for the purpose of taking out of your life that which is keeping you from His purpose. Pursue His purpose with all of your hearts this coming year and remind yourself of the promises He has made to you so that His overcoming faith will propel you forward into His purpose.
