Hungry to See Him
2001
In 1 Timothy 1 Paul talks about his purpose in writing to Timothy. “The purpose of my instruction is that all the Christians there would be filled with the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and sincere faith.” That’s what our lives should be about and where we should be headed, that all the Christians here would have a love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience and sincere faith. He even goes on to talk about basically legalism and observing the law. It was producing foolish controversies and all that.
I’ve been feeling quite hungry and quite desperate lately. It seems like every tape I pick up lately talks about the more we would see Jesus the less we would feel a need or desire to sin. There would be something so attractive and precious about Him that it would blow away the love of other things. I was planning on making an excerpt tape from different years where you talked about that and said almost the same thing in different contexts, different ways. There seems to be so much writing on that.
Definitely in my life, times where I feel like I could honestly say that I believe I have seen something of Jesus here. There’s been tremendous change in my life, but I am realizing how much more needs to happen. I am very willing to put into my life little daily decisions about spending time with Him, cleaning out junk, and so on. I am very willing to go through an evolution of growth in seeing Him and knowing Him. I’m willing to grow a lifetime, but if I can see Him and know Him more tomorrow, I want to do that. I don’t know where the question mark is in there exactly.
