Searching for More Jesus

It occurs to me that the only way we would have no room left to Grow spiritually...
is 1) if we already know everything
or 2) have experienced everything
or 3) have responded perfectly to everything
and 4) know His voice and ways and personhood intimately beyond expression.

If any one of those things, or be real, all four of those things are not true then how would we get closer to the Mark on those that we fall short on?

There are 10 answers, all true. I think if you took the time to write them down, you would find there are probably 10. All true.

But the one I want to highlight tonight is: failure.

If everything always goes right, what is the incentive to run along the wall desperately trying to find the opening that you have missed? Is it possible God introduces unresolvable and absurd failure just to take us to a new level of searching and finding? What is faith? What is prayer? What does it mean “in His name”? What does our character have to do with the answer to prayer? Add many more questions to these as what must happen if we are searching for more Jesus—rather than just more success. 9:10 p.m.
