Serve Him Well

1/11/1998

When you eat in a finer restaurant and the waiter says, “Hi, I’ll be your SERVER today,” there are three things you expect from that person. 1) To get just what you ordered in a reasonable time, 2) your food to be of the highest quality possible, and 3) good service from that server. If you’re disappointed in any of the three to any great degree you’re not likely to go back—“They’re not getting any more of my money.” Well, what if we were the Servers? Would we want to serve well, giving attention to detail to the one we serve, offer the best food possible and see that the order was just what they ordered and served quickly so that his or her meal would be as pleasing an experience as possible? What if the one we served was Jesus? In fact, He is the One we Serve our offerings (sacrifices) to throughout the day, right? When we’ve done it to the least of these, haven’t we done it unto Him? Now consider this scripture in light of being a Server... The Lord said to Moses, “Give these instructions to the people of Israel: The offerings you present to me by fire on the altar ARE MY FOOD, and they are very pleasing to me. See to it that they are brought at the appointed times and offered according to my instructions” (Num. 28:1-2). Let’s serve Him and His family well today.
