A Shadow Picture of Sheep and Goats

6/25/2023

Good morning :) There was a shadow picture we saw at a farm yesterday morning I thought you might like to hear, too. In the barn area, I asked one of the employees what some of the differences were between sheep and goats. She pointed to the sheep pen where a newborn lamb and its mother were with their flock. She said, “The sheep stick together. We can’t even let the rest of the flock go outside very often right now because the mother and new lamb would be too stressed to be separated from them. The goats are independent.” I thought that was so amazing. The goats were running all around outside and inside the barn. But the whole flock of sheep was together, staying inside for the sake of the one little lamb and its mother. A goat will not be stressed when separated from the flock, but a sheep definitely will. It made me think of 1 John 2:19: “They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.”—M 8:23 a.m.
