Social Networking

1/9/2010

I heard on National Public Radio news about an interesting service that lets you commit “social networking suicide” and delete all your “social networking” accounts. You put in your user name and password information for your various social networking accounts (twitter, facebook, myspace, linkedin, etc.) and hit “commit” and it goes through and changes the password on all your accounts, deletes all your illusory “friends” and relationships with those who have led you to believe they are someone they are not, closes down everyone who “follows” you or whom you “follow” in twitter, deletes your photos, etc. etc. They were interviewing the CEO of the company who said that they give people the opportunity to get rid of their “virtual lives” so they can “get their REAL lives back.” He said (and I quote) “Social networking doesn’t make your life better…it makes you more stupid.”
