About That Thing Called "Prayer"...
5/2/2023
How hard it must be to talk to a total stranger on the street. “Hi, how are you?” “Ummm fine.” “What do you think about this weather lately?” “I see you have a nice wrist watch.” “Lovely shoes.”
But, what if you ran into someone you have known for many years, and hadn’t seen for awhile? “Great to see you! How is your wife? And that daughter of yours—she must be getting big! Is she still playing soccer? She is so quick—she’s probably tearing it up, twisting defenders’ ankles! And how is your job going? Did that big project with the government get off the ground?...”
Hmmmm. When you know a lot about a “person” and with affection, for a long time, you never run out of details to talk about together, back and forth.
Is it the “goal” to have conversations and be “disciplined” to do so often—REALLY?!
Or is it “something else” we’re really wanting and needing that will RESULT in effortless “good conversation”? 8:11 a.m.
