The God Who Changes Lives
Some scriptures that came to the mind of one of our young followers of Jesus yesterday as he considered the amazing changes that God brings about in those who trust fully in Him…
“Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins. You used to live just like the rest of the world, full of sin, obeying satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passions and desires of our evil nature, and we were under God’s anger just like everyone else.
But God is so rich in mercy, and loved us so very much, that even while we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. For He raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with Him in heavenly realms—all because we are one with Jesus Christ. And so God can always point to us as examples of the incredible wealth of His favor and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for us through Christ Jesus.
God saved you by His special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this, it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Eph 2:1-10
“When i think of the wisdom and scope of God’s plan, i fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources He will give you mighty inner strength through His Holy Spirit. And i pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, how deep His love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great that you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. May He be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen.” Eph 3:14-21
