The Pain of His Absence

(A worthwhile thought—sorry I don’t know the source—just found it in my notes. Seems meaningful in the light of “this one thing we do…” —laurel)

“In the absence of God, we feel pain, and that’s a good thing because it signifies our lack. But we often misdiagnose the problem as we reach for things to blame for the way we feel. In the end, for us all, it is only the absence of Jesus that we cannot bear. He makes all other things bearable. And without Him, nothing is ever enough to remove the pain of His absence.”
