Changes Need to Be Made

11/1987

…to get me in trouble with those who have a legalistic sense that they’re right about everything—(who believe that) the denominational system that is dominant in the world today is the only way to go and, in fact, must be right just by the pure numbers. And I’d like to challenge y’all, again, to rethink some things.

This tape was done for a church that has decided that the fruit proves that the tree for generations has been bad. They desire from top to bottom to be all that God called them to be as a church. Now they’ve come to understand that there are some changes that have to be made and specifically asked me where to begin from here. They’ve been a traditional church, not that tradition is in itself wrong. But when the fruit is bad, when the fruit doesn’t look like Jesus Christ or the fruit of the New Testament church, then we know one thing for sure - and that is that the tree is bad according to Jesus Christ.

They’ve discovered that their tree, though it’s very much like all the other trees in the religious world, must not be a good tree because the fruit is not the fruit of the New Testament church that they read about in the book of Acts. So they wanted to know in a very practical way what they should do next. “Where do we go from here?” Was the question that they asked.

And so I’d like to share this with you in hopes that there might be something beneficial in this for you and your walk with God. Again, if you have something that angers you out of this or something that you don’t understand as fully as you’d like, just be sure and let me or someone else know about it. We’d be glad to answer any of your questions as far as we’re able to. Rest assured that I care about you and about the Lord’s Church. I’m very jealous for the Lord’s Church. I’m jealous for the Holy Scriptures, and I’d like to share some of what seems to be true from the Word of God that’s been neglected for some time.

If in fact you find that it is not from the Word of God, then I’d be more than happy, in fact, anxious to hear specifically what things are not true from the Holy Scriptures. I don’t have anything to protect. I’m not starting anything. All I want to do is accurately portray the scriptures - live it out in a very real, tangible, and observable way. And bring as many people as I can with me into the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the nature of the Church that Jesus shed his blood to establish. Please be patient with me. I’m growing too. :)

If there are things that you find here that are true, then as always you’re accountable to the Word of God. You’re going to be judged by the Word on that last day, not the traditions of men. So be patient. Listen to this thoroughly, carefully, and prayerfully. Ask the Father if these things have to do with your life and the church that you’re a part of. Don’t be too quick to judge and too quick to criticize just because it’s not what you’re used to hearing.

Again, please be very cautious and very loving and very tender in your approach towards these things. I think you’ll find that there is more here that is true than you would have imagined at first glimpse. So, again, please listen carefully and prayerfully, and I trust that it will be worthwhile to you in your journey towards the Most High God.
