Be Very Careful How You Build

“Be very careful how you (pl.) build.”

“Dreams, they’re for those who sleep.” —Bread, 1970

However, a dream this morning prompted this consideration. In the dream, it was a freeze-framed moment in time. I was about to do something bad in the dream, that I would never have wanted to do.

The abrupt “pause button” of the dream woke me up.

In the dream, it was all nearly unstoppable.

I woke up abruptly with this verse on my mind, “Be very careful how you build.”

Though these verses are 100% plural in the Greek, a surprise to me this morning, the drama of the dream was quite instructive, singular or plural: The only feasible way to have avoided the problem—would have been to never have been in that situation in the first place. “Be very careful how you build.” (1 Corinthians 3:8-23)

Obviously, the same is true on the larger level. The treachery of Lucifer on the smaller level, always based on “good reasons,” is also true on the larger Ekklesia level.

The devastation and trauma via “leaven in the batch”... It is almost impossible to stop the momentum and avalanche (or quicksand) if we build poorly: individually, or in the “plural” Greek tense of the body of believers, as in 1 Corinthians 3:8-23.
