When You Pray….
12/28/2020
On the topic of prayer, there are concepts in the legal system, the court system referred to as “status” and “standing.”
Who you are, relative to citizenship and the situation and your status before society and the court—and whether you are a true stakeholder with a personal investment—have much to do with whether the judge will “hear” you.
When you Pray before play, Speak before peek, your “opening remarks” and “closing arguments” might include what persuasive mindset about “standing” before the judge?
We don’t want to be just yacking to ourselves, right?
We come boldly as Children of the King, bought by the Blood of Jesus, hidden in Him, making our requests in His name, connected to His will and on His behalf.
Truth.
Another consideration would be that even a family member of the judge would get somewhat different treatment if he came in presumptuous, or unprepared, or unkempt, or undisciplined?
Also coming ready to listen and respond, and not just ready to talk?
For sure. And the concept of “standing” goes beyond what’s right or wrong, or who you are, or your position or right to be there before the judge. It also includes “What’s it to YOU? Why are you a stakeholder in this topic you are petitioning me about?”
The judge would not argue that your petition for “world peace” isn’t a great petition. But he won’t hear you if you can’t tell him “why” world peace has any bearing on you personally and your purpose and mission and priorities in life, and what it is costing you in the interference of lack of world peace. Be prepared to tell the judge “why” it matters that he hear you. And He will know if 1) “it’s all about you” or 2) it was a careless request based on a good idea but nothing invested, or 3) if you only care about “seeking first the Kingdom” and His decision about what’s best is totally trusted!
