Whose Side Are You Fightin' On?

10/27/1999

A helpful perspective a few of us shared recently... Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come” (Josh. 5:13-14).

As you face the sword of God’s word—whether reading an e-mail, listening to Papa in your own closet, listening to a tape, talking to your spouse, or allowing a brother or sister to share their insight into your life—Whose side do you find yourself on? Like the commander of the Lord’s army, let’s make sure we never find ourselves on either side (defending a standard that’s less than Jesus OR defending, in any way, ourselves)—but as members of the Lord’s army we come to do ruthless battle against all the Lord’s enemies, in ourselves and each other!! WE’RE ON NO ONE’S SIDE, but HIS!! Right? —bb 8:23 a.m.
