Will You Be Firm in Your Resolve to Be His, and to BEHOLD Only Him?
7/22/2002
HOW do you behold Him (especially when you are really being tossed around with tons of confusion and false images of who He really is and stuff)?
You CHOOSE to not be “tossed around,” and to instead “THINK ON THESE THINGS: _______!” It’s a CHOICE! Of course, “The Spirit and the flesh wage war with one another,” and, “Who among you is tempted that I do not inwardly burn?” Of course there IS a battle. But offer each temptation and thought to Jesus as a GIFT, and GO ON! Get out of there, and “think on THESE things: _____.” You have a choice which thoughts you dwell upon and rehearse and reason with. You COULD, instead, simply renounce them and dismiss them and replace them, by choice.
“The fruit of the Spirit is self-control” (Gal.5:22-23).
“You are never tempted beyond what you can bear, but are always given a way out” (1Cor.10:13).
“Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (Jas.4:7).
“You have an advocate with the Father: Jesus Christ.”
PSALM 101
(a Song of David, his commitment to his God)
1 I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, O Lord, I will sing praises!
2 I will behave wisely in a perfect way.
Oh, come to me!
I will walk within the house with a perfect heart.
3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes;
I hate the work of those who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
4 A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will not know wickedness.
5 Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor,
Him I will destroy;
The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart,
Him I will not endure.
6 My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land,
That they may dwell with me;
He who walks in a perfect way,
He shall serve me.
7 He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence.
8 Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land,
That I may cut off all the evildoers from the city of the Lord.
