All Fall Down Word of the Day
reverend
If you like being revered you might consider becoming a reverend, just as a number wanting to be divided may become a dividend. The intersection is the common word endings which derive from Latin —endus, a gerundive marker that typically expresses the fitness or necessity of the action to be performed. Reverend debuted in English as an adjective meaning “worthy of reverence.” The noun came later.
