Your Heart is Like a Garden

Your heart is like a garden that God's given you to grow.

You must tend it, nurture it; where you've walked will show.

Much careful work is needed if you want your plants to bloom.

Sunshine, Truth, and Honesty give growing seeds their room!

Tiptoe 'round the tiny sprouts, and pull up whiney weeds;

Water thirsty plants each day when you get on your knees.

But if you get distracted, with your nose high in the air,

And think about yourself, your clothes, or stroke your silly hair,

Unknowingly you trample flat the precious blooms below!

Flowers of kindness, trust, and joy, they have no room to grow.

Their beauty, meant for Jesus, is now squished beyond repair!

How can you pick Him a bouquet, without a bloom to share?

I'll tell you now a secret—of the whole it's just a piece,

But live this way with all your heart, and blooms will never cease! :)

Focus on what God has said is beautiful to Him.

It’s not what's on the outside, but how we dress our hearts within:

Humility, Love, and Joyful Trust;

No jealousy or pride;

Smiling and giving friends your best;

Keeping outward eyes!

These are just a few of many choices you can make!

Each choice, a gift for Jesus, unique in color and shape.

God sees what's done in secret: the decisions made for Him.

And as seeds turn into blossoms, then He cannot help but grin!

So come, cultivate your garden, working carefully each day.

Together, we will give to Him a beautiful bouquet!
