We Are Unprofitable Servants

You need to know that the reason nothing is too difficult for Him is not because He’s so powerful, and He does things for us. That really isn’t why nothing is too difficult for Him. We really have that thought process ingrained in us—that we ask Him for something, and He does something for us. And He can do anything for us because He’s strong and wise and all-powerful, so He can do things for us. Therefore nothing is too difficult for Him to do for us if we ask Him. We have that way of thinking that somehow takes Jesus and sets Him on the side just a little bit as the “doer” of things and the “giver” of things instead of the Object itself — Himself.
The reason nothing is too difficult for Him is because He is All in all. Because He IS all of those things. Every spiritual blessing is in Christ Jesus. Not by Christ Jesus. It’s IN Christ Jesus. You’ve got to see the difference in your heart. You have to see the difference in your heart. Otherwise, you’re going to be bounced around like a rubber ball your whole life like just about every Christian that’s ever been born again has ever been. Just about every one of them has been bounced around from circumstance to circumstance, from failure to failure, from success to success.
If they’re very talented in the flesh, they’ll be a successful Christian, the envy of everyone. If they’re not talented in the flesh, they’ll be a lousy Christian, a failure in most areas of their Christian walk the same way they were in their physical walk, in business or whatever it would happen to be. There’s a direct correlation.
It almost ends up not being spiritual gifts at all but talents that now have a fish logo on it...like a good public speaker. The guy that was trying to influence me to be in “the ministry” was a guy that won a Toastmasters International contest and became the talk of the town as a great preacher. That was the way he looked at things. And, in fact, that is how he achieved his success because as it turned out his life was a terrible mess, as we found out as we did some house-sitting for him one time when his family was out of town. It wasn’t what he let on in the “church building” and from all the people coming down the aisle in tears at the altar call or invitation song.
I just want to say to you that your limit as a Child of God -- in the true sense of supernatural life emanating from you and supernatural accomplishment where the demons tremble when you walk into the room -- is not related to how you were brought up, how intelligent you are, what your talents are, what your experiences are. “Be it done to you according to your faith.” It’s going to be how much you believe God that unleashes the Power of God to change the seen and the unseen world. To say to this mountain, not doubting, “Be thou removed and cast into the sea!” Now how much does that have to do with whether or not you did well in a Toastmasters International competition? “If you say it just right you can get the mountain to cry. You can get the mountain to crumble or tremble or be convicted.”
It doesn’t have anything to do with the externals of talent or experience or intellect. Not in Jesus’ realm. He went to great lengths to prove that, by taking a bunch of fishermen with no education and bringing them into a place of changing planet Earth. He built the whole Holy City on the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb which were a bunch of rejects. A bunch of guys that would never have made it in the business world.
But He changed their very personality. He changed how they looked at life. He changed their whole realm of accomplishment and brought them to a place of great honor before the throne of God and before men though they had none of the experiences or intellect or education or talents or any of those things that would have led us to believe that these are the guys that are going to be the pillars of this whole thing called Christianity. You need to know that. There are some people in this room that have experienced some of that.
There are many more miracles in this room waiting to happen. The shy person that would forget that that was ever the case. The person that didn’t feel like they were very intelligent, that apprehends the deep mysteries of God. They still may not know what E=MC squared means nor would they care. But the deep mysteries of God are revealed to the inner man by the Spirit, Paul said in 1 Cor. 2.
And Christ lives in our heart and draws us into the presence of God to whisper the Secrets of God because we’re His friends and because we’ve laid our lives before Him, and we Trust Him in Faith. He uses us as a vessel for His divine Life and His divine Wisdom. It becomes a matter of becoming a vessel, not earning something.
I want you to see for the hundredth time in the last week, I want you to see that there is absolutely no limit whatsoever in what God can do to your personality -- to the way you’re wired, to the things that you could ever have done in the business world or the academic world or whether or not you could have ever accomplished anything in the natural is totally irrelevant. I can’t even convince you of how irrelevant it is that you have a great intellect or a great personality or a bad intellect or a bad personality. Great leadership qualities, no leadership qualities. I can’t even begin to tell you of how little relevance that is to what you can do in the Eternal Kingdom of our Living God. Faith is the issue. Do you believe the promises of God? Do you believe Him? Is Christ your all in all or are you adding Christ to what you’re doing? Are you using Christ to do things for you? Or is Christ your all in all?
