The "Gift" of Tattletale?? NOT!

5/28/2023

List of translations for the word tattle, but no Greek

If anyone knows what the Greek word for tattletale is, or for the “listener of tattle-taling,” please let me know? :)

We know that the five Gifts, or four Gifts, mentioned in Ephesians 4, verses 11 through 17, are about specific functions.

I’m pretty sure that tattle-taling isn’t in that list?

—————

Now that we have played together a little bit, I will get to my point. :-)

An apostle is a master builder, architekton, and deals with structure for the best possible Christ-likeness outcome for a community of believers, amongst other things.

A prophet can smell the wind and sense a wind change in individuals or society that affects the Christ-likeness outcome for a community of believers, or a family or individual.

An evangelist, good news teller, brings the message of the kingdom of God—to let all men and women know that the “order” of God, submission, the structure of God’s kingdom, is the only place to find harmony with the universe God created, and the son of God.

A shepherd/teacher brings understanding and perspective about God’s Ways and mind, to 1) feed God’s sheep, as well as to 2) protect all from outside or inside wolves.

The gift I don’t see in the scripture, or in the other scriptures, is the gift of tattle-taling.

That to say,

just as we cannot build the community of God around 1) being like-minded about sports, or 2) like-minded about business, or 3) by biological ties, or 4) longtime friendships, or 5) by long strings of text messages talking about situations or people with groups of people,

It is also essential to know that, as a priesthood of believers, running to one or two or three special people (male or female) to vent about a problem, or express a concern about someone else, is not “getting equipping!”

That is tattle-taling, not getting equipping.

There is no place in the scripture that justifies a believer having a problem, or identifying a problem, or having a concern with some third-party that automatically runs to some special one or two or three people to “get advice” “to get equipping.” Show me that in the Scriptures would you? That is tattle-taling, not “getting equipping.” It is the easy way out and a way to not have to take responsibility to be a priest of God “to him and him alone” asking someone to consider something or getting clarification from them about something that is disturbing to you about who they seem to be.

“I could be totally wrong, but” and then asking that person to consider something that is disturbing to the spirit inside of you, is very different than tattle-taling to some other party because supposedly they know more about everything. They might, but that’s still shirking your responsibility and functioning in an unbiblical way. Equipping is about “structure,” what is the way to go about something that best honors Jesus and dishonors satan. It is not running to others to talk about situations and people behind their back. That’s something different.

So, good morning, and consider all of the above pretty please? :-)

Do the work yourself! :-)

If your best attempt to do the work falls short, “bring two or three” and try again :-)
