How Do I View My “Likes”?

A DC dinner conversation last night with children...

Where did this beef come from?
A cow.
Where is that cow now?
Dead.

That’s becoming a Christian—sacrificing everything.

Not like a chicken that donates a precious egg.

Follow up question: We’re talking about giving up everything to become a Christian... how does that relate to my “likes,” because I like some of the same things from before I was a Christian?

How is a Rembrandt different from a Renoir? Both famous masters, right? But there’s some people that LOVE Rembrandt and HATE Renoir and the other way around. So which does God like better? He doesn’t care!! We signed up to only care about what God cares about. So is it wrong to like something? No, that’s tree of knowledge. But if we feel our emotions flickering about something, if it’s controlling us in any way, if we CARE about it, we gotta let it go.

Always test our hearts with “What does God think about ___?” He doesn’t care? Ok, I don’t either!
