Jihad

10/11/2001

Not everyone in Islam considers “Jihad” to be a “Pillar of the Islamic Faith.” Amongst those who do, many believe “Jihad” is to be a Holy War against the passions and sins of the inner man. To others, “Jihad” is a declared “Holy War” against the infidels, the “unbelievers,” the pagans: those who are not part of Islam. To them, there are two kinds of non-muslim enemies: kafir (nonbelievers of the doctrines and teachings and laws of Islam, such as atheists, nominal, hindus, buddhists, etc) and ahl al-kitab (“people of the Book”—committed Jews and Christians).

For those who DO embrace “Jihad” as essential to Islam, and interpret it as a matter of “the sword,” it is fair to say that “peace-loving” would not exactly describe their “faith”—no matter what one may hear in the speeches.

Just so you know…….

Statements such as these are quoted by the Islamic “Jihad” from the Qur’an:

“When the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war)….” (The Qur’an, Sura 9:5)

“Fight those who believe not in God [Allah] nor the Last Day…(even if they are) of the People of the Book [Jews and Christians]….” (The Qur’an, Sura 9:29)

“Hypocrites …shall have a curse on them: wherever they are found, they shall be seized and slain (without mercy)” (The Qur’an, Sura 33:60-61).

From these and other quotes from the Qur’an, the following conclusions have been made by Jihad supporters:

In his book, Jurisprudence in Muhammad’s Biography, the Azhar scholar, Dr. Muhammad Sa’id Ramadan al-Buti, says the following: “The Holy War, as it is known in Islamic jurisprudence, is basically an offensive war. This is the duty of Muslims in every age when the needed military power becomes available to them. This is the phase in which the meaning of Holy War has taken its final form. Thus the apostle of God said: ‘I was commanded to fight the people until they believe in God and his message…’” (p. 134, 7th edition).

Saudi Scholar, Dr. Muhammad-al-Amin, in his book, The Method of Islamic Law, clearly states: “No infidel [unbeliever] should be left on his land as it is denoted from Muhammad’s statement: ‘I was commanded to fight the people…(until they bear testimony to the fact that there is no God but Allah and that Mohammed is his messenger).”’

In his book, The Biography of the Apostle, part 4, Ibn Hisham says: “Muhammad sent Khalid Ibn al-Walid to the tribe of the children of Haritha and told him: ‘Call them to accept Islam before you fight with them, but if they refuse, fight them.’ Khalid told them: ‘Accept Islam and spare your life.’ They entered Islam by force. He brought them to Muhammad. Muhammad said to them: ‘Had you not accepted Islam I would have cast your heads under your feet” (p.134).

Dr. ‘Afifi Abdul-Fahah, in his book, The Spirit of Islamic Religion, writes: “Islam has approved war so that the Word of God becomes supreme. This is war for the cause of God (Holy War) “ (p.382), and “Islamic law demands that before Muslims start fighting infidels (unbelievers), they first deliver the message of Islam to them. It was proven that the prophet never fought people before he called them to embrace Islam first” (p. 384).

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, in his writings, states: “When the prophet migrated from Mecca to Medina, God ordered him to fight those who fought him only. Then when the Chapter of Repentance was revealed, God commanded His prophet to fight anyone who did not become a Muslim from among the Arabs, whether (that person) fought him or not.”

The Lights of Revelation, a commentary on the Qur’an declares: “Fight Jews and Christians because they violated the origin of their faith and they do not believe in the religion of the truth, namely Islam, which abrogated all other religions. Fight them……

The Ordinances of the Qur’an (part 2, p. 50) declares: “The apostle of God killed and captured (many) of the people of the Book [Christians and Jews] until some of them embraced Islam….”

The Book of the Islamic State by Taqiy alDin, states: “The foreign policy of Islamic states must be to carry the Islamic mission to the world by way of holy war. This process has been established through the course of the ages… This process has never been changed at all. The apostle Muhammad, from the time he founded the state in the city Yathrib, prepared an army and began holy war to remove the physical barriers which hinder the spread of Islam” (pp.112,113).

Though clearly Islam is not exactly “peace-loving” for many, and their teaching is to kill those who will not convert to Islam…nevertheless, OUR battle is NOT with flesh and blood.

Nor do we “get involved in civilian affairs”—the consuming thoughts and passions and opinions of this present age. Be cautious of giving away too much time to “news,” or giving away emotion and decisions that demonstrate storing “treasure” in the wrong realm.

OUR “Jihad” is with sin, self-life, lack of love, and the root of all that is not of God: unBelief in the blood of Jesus Christ, THE Prince of Peace! This is the true enemy which robs most ever born, of every nationality, of their True Inheritance…

FOCUS on Jesus’ Call to each of us to extend His Reign and Rule: Repent, for the Kingdom is at hand: “Times of refreshing come from repentance!” “He came to bless us, by turning each of us from our sins!”

OUR battle cry? “Behold! The Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!”

And…“THIS is HOW all men will know you are MY Disciples: by the LOVE they see that you have as a habitat amongst your lives together!”

Hi….. Thanks for the illumination…most of us have absolutely no idea what the term jihad means or what is in the minds of these people….

I have heard of the Koran but what is the other book you mentioned? Where do they think these books come from? Are they supposedly “inspired by their God”?

Hi …

Actually, “Qur’an” is the proper English-character spelling of “Koran.” “Koran” is simply “anglicized” phonetic spelling, to accommodate the non-Islamic reader. It’s the same thing. : ) They consider the “Koran” to be the COMPLETION of the “incomplete” Bible, and consider it to be TOTALLY inspired, and superior. They also “believe” in the Bible as useful and from God—but not complete—as they believe in “Jesus” as a good prophet. They consider Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be THEIR “fathers of the faith”—just as Jews and Christians do. That’s why they built a mosque/shrine in Jerusalem.

In Cairo, Egypt, a man I was speaking to there about Jesus, he was quick to say that he considered us “brothers”—because we believed in the same one God, and the revelation to Moses, Abraham, the Prophets, etc. Of course, their God is NOT a God of Redemption who buys us back from our sins, by the Blood of His Son, Jesus. They rely on a moral code and “the conscience” for their “salvation” and it is totally up to us to do good works, give money to the poor, pray five times a day, chant “There is one God, Allah, and his prophet, Mohammed,” and make a once-per-lifetime pilgrimage to Mecca. These “pillars” will save your soul, if you learn to obey your conscience and do good deeds. You can then see why “killing yourself” for a “holy” cause would be the ultimate way to ensure your “salvation.” The ultimate “good work” for allah.

So, that’s kinda how it works, though I’ve never made a point to know everything about what the devil throws at the human race as diversions of hearts and passion that should belong to Father. Pray that Jesus’ LOVE and the GIFT of Eternal Life—by Faith in HIS Good Works and Blood—will melt the hearts of those in bondage to their own flesh, with no way out. A religion of law can only make a man or woman MISERABLE, and we pray and speak that the Love of Jesus and His Father may come shining through their pain. And may their “leaders” who mislead them with these teachings be silenced in a dramatic fashion, as were the prophets of Baal before God, and a voice on His behalf, Elijah (1Kings 18:17-40).

Need to take off—Grace and Peace to you. : )

Love,
