Women's Head Covering

My question is in reference to head coverings: When reading the scriptures on women wearing head coverings, they seem to refer to the woman’s long hair itself as being the covering, not a piece of cloth. Where does the idea of a cloth enter in?

Hi… Good question, of course. And it’s been the source of much confusion and consternation and unnecessary division for hundreds of years. It is quite easy to see in the Text that the REAL issue on Dad’s Mind, regardless of details, is submission to God’s Order for things. No question this is the Purpose of the Passage, if you read it start to finish. While I could answer what I have come to understand on the matter of the specifics of cloth on the head, versus long hair, and matters related to “because of the angels” and the like, if everyone simply made CERTAIN that they are respectful and responsive to the HEART of what God was saying to us in that Passage, the world would change for the Better. Frankly, some of the most proud, sinfully independent, outspoken, and domineering women we’ve ever met in our travels around the country and the world have had cloths on their head—which is obviously total hypocrisy and disobedience. We’ve always recommended that folks get the HEART of the matter Right before God, and (Heb.3:12-14) live out His Ways daily “admonishing one another” to live fully in Jesus, and the rest would take care of itself. And, sure enough, this has always been the case in every church we have interacted with around the world—when they majored in majors and held the other “topics” until the HEART of the matters were submitted to Him in DAILY LIFE, “from the least to the greatest,” and dealing with the “leaven” (1Cor.5, Titus 3:10)—their whole worlds changed dramatically and all the discord or confusion was put behind them. It is impossible for men to build around “ideas” or “agreement”—but God Himself sustains those who build around loving and submitting in daily life to one another and His Son. “Attendance-based” substitutes for daily “joined and knit together by every supporting ligament” Together-Life will never find the Harmony and Peace and Fruitfulness of the Son, as He Intended (Eph.3:10). So! Getting our “Alphabet” in the right order will clarify that issue and ten thousand others for all. : )
