Create Your Future With WORDS of Faith

I am so frequently staggered by the “Yeah, but it’s TRUE” types of excuses when people allow themselves to say or think GODless thoughts that they readily ADMIT Jesus would not think or say or allow himself the “luxury” (curse, actually) to “feel.”

If it’s not Jesus, IT IS NOT TRUE! No matter how “you feel inside” blah, blah.

We will ALWAYS find the deception we are searching for, the lies our “itching ears” prefer over the Cross and denying self. Mammals get to stay mammals IF that’s what they want. God actually SENDS deception “that we would fully believe the lie” (2 Thessalonians 2:11)—if we love this present age and love ourselves.

However, there’s a LOT of work to do in us still, even IF we DO “choose Life” in order to be drawn into “the family likeness of Jesus” and the “full measure of the stature of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13)! So, how do we get to the “telios” maturity, fullness, completeness, anointing He has Invited us into? He put His Spirit within us to Show us and Take us into the Eternal Realm. Now, how do we PARTICIPATE in that Divine Nature to add daily to our QUALITY of Life in the already-cleansed Position in heavenly realms He has gifted us by our faith, aka abandonment. He has purchased all of our horrid past, present, and future—by His Blood and His Spirit. Now what do we do to add to HIS Testimony by showing His Life that He has bestowed upon “all who believe”—all who fall back in the chair in trust?

“But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.” (2 Peter 1:5-9)

“Be not deceived, God is not mocked. A person reaps what they SOW.” (Galatians 6:7)

So, here is OUR part: HOW WE THINK AND BUILD AND SPEAK.

This is not about Salvation, per se, which is by Grace and Faith (abandoned trust, reliance, confidence). This is the topic of choosing to be equipped by His Words, His Gifts, and by those “useful idiots” of Abba working everything TOGETHER for the good, by love and purpose, into the quality of LIFE of the Son, the second Adam.

Jesus’ Touch is REAL—for all who believe, trust, let go. The “useful idiots” of temptation or failure or disabilities or loss... they can drive us close to him or we can choose mind blocking or despair instead of him. He is after our character, not physical things at all.

So, here we go.

Remember, “In the Beginning was the Word” (John 1:1) and “The Word became flesh and lived for awhile among us” (John 1:14).

“And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3)

“By the WORD of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host... For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” (Psalm 33:6, 9)

“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11)

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)

“But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s WORD the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water.” (2 Peter 3:5)

WORDS are the immutable, creative and destructive Force of the universe, and BEFORE the universe, and “before there was time.”

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt... even if you SAY to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ it will be done.” (Matthew 21:21)

“But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36-37)

“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)

That’s WHY we “take every thought captive” and “cast down imaginations” that don’t reflect Jesus’ Lordship: because thoughts and words have POWER! To create. Or to destroy.

Be very, very careful what you think about, the radio, what you care about, the motor, and strange fire, and the words you allow to form in your mind or come out of your mouth! They create. They destroy. They grow and twist and turn like a poison vine. Leaven spreads. Bitterness “defiles many.” Slander destroys relationships and trust.

Choose life! Choose this:

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—THINK on SUCH things.” (Philippians 4:8)

1. True. Things that are honest, factual, and in accordance with God’s truth. “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17). Seek truth in your conversations, media consumption, and your self-reflection. Quit cutting corners and justifying. Question outside sources before accepting information as fact. “What else could it be?” “Lay bare the MOTIVES of the heart” and “fruit” before deciding or repeating things in a world of lies. Be honest with yourself and others. Think this way. Speak this way.

2. Noble. Things that are honorable, morally excellent, and worthy of respect; high moral character. “But the noble man devises noble plans, and on noble things he stands” (Isaiah 32:8). The Bereans are called “noble-minded” for their eagerness to absorb the Old Testament (the only Bible they had) and to “test and approve” the thing congruent with the character and words of God. A noble thought is a thought and commitment that reflects moral excellence, integrity, and honor. Contemplate God’s character, Jesus’ Life and decisions, the fruitful lives of truly Spirit-led individuals, and the pursuit of wisdom and justice in your daily life. Think this way. Speak this way.

3. Right. Things that are just, righteous, and in accordance with God’s Ways. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). Pursue fairness in all decisions and interactions. Stand up for others who are treated unfairly. Avoid cliques or nepotism, biological idolatry, or anything that would blind us to play favorites, or be afraid to speak the truth because of “consequences” and loss of something we have made an idol.

4. Pure. Things that are clean, untainted by sin, free from moral corruption, and reflect holiness. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10). “Be holy, for I am holy”(Leviticus 11:44). A pure thing to think on and to SPEAK is that which is free from moral corruption, meditating on God’s holiness, the life and teachings and refusal to compromise of Jesus, and on the desire to live a life pleasing to God, to “hate” the world and the things of the world in order to be “God’s friend” (John 15) rather than “God’s enemy” (Romans 3-5), etc. Guard your mind from harmful or immoral influences. Choose entertainment and media that align with God’s values, not pleasure seeking or worthiness that makes us God’s enemy. Cultivate wholesome thoughts and desires, and only godly, real relationships. In the world but never of it.

14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-17)

5. Lovely. Things that are beautiful, attractive, gracious, and promote love and harmony. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God” (Colossians 3:16). Notice beauty and kindness in the world around you. Express gratitude and appreciation for people and experiences. Create environments that are uplifting and harmonious, as a peacemaker.

6. Admirable/Commendable. Things that are reputable, of good report, and worthy of approval. “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

7. Excellent. Things that are of outstanding quality, virtue, and merit. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23).

8. Praiseworthy. Things that are worthy of praise and glorification, especially ascribing worth to God. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalms 150:6). “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom” (Psalm 145:3).

This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength [the false safe places of what we know, can do, can have or experience] and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence [turning their hearts to him, having no other safe place before him]. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:5-8)

Sow only to the Spirit, please? Your future and those you love depend on it!

Nothing less, nothing extra!

Only 90 minutes ago, someone was pointing out to a child “Don’t touch the baby birds in the nest, or its mommy will smell you and kick the baby out of the nest.” She got close to touching one of the very healthy 2-week-old baby birds, as she pointed at it for the child’s illustration, but did not touch it.

Within minutes, the mother kicked out its baby, and it was instantly covered with ants, still alive, but paralyzed, lying still, eyes open, on the front porch.

Maybe the parable is this:

Don’t mess around getting even close to touching the world, making an excuse of “It’s not that bad—I didn’t actually touch it all the way!” Stuff dies when we play close to the edges.
